NINA KIM
Born and raised in LA, my interest in graphic design sparked during my junior year in high school. Now, I am a generalist, always seeking to learn new things and widen my spectrum. With my adaptability, I don't tie myself down to one thing for too long and my curiosity leads me to new experiences and new lessons. I look forward to learning and collaborating with a variety of designers!

LA Art Show: Brand Reinvention
Branding and Identity, Print Design, Motion Design, Transmedia
After contemplating the theme for the LA Art Show, I determined that the spotlight should be on LA artists, emphasizing an inclusive approach with an open call for participation. Hosted at the LA Convention Center, strategically positioned near the LA Arts District, my objective was to create an identity that attracts and engages a diverse audience in Los Angeles. The aim was to reach beyond the already art-savvy community and captivate individuals from various backgrounds.

In developing the logo design, I drew inspiration from the traditional signages of local LA businesses, incorporating both expanded and condensed type moments. The aim was to visually communicate the primary objective of the brand – uniting artists and art enthusiasts from across the expansive city of Los Angeles in a single space, during a singular event. Following extensive exploration, I settled on a 60:40 ratio, applying it not only to the logo but also to the layout and other type treatments throughout the brand identity.
